Dear Family!

I wish you all a wonderful, grace-filled Easter! As this is the most important day for the Church, let us be mindful of the essence of what we believe! “Because Easter Sunday is the commemoration of Christ’s Resurrection, this day is the greatest solemnity of the liturgical year” (CCC 1169).

The Catechism reminds us that “The Resurrection remains at the very heart of the mystery of faith as something that transcends and surpasses history. This is why the risen Christ does not reveal himself to the world, but to his disciples, ‘to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people” (CCC 647).

Easter Vigil is the vigil or all vigils. The liturgy is constructed in such a way as to reflect and pray with all the readings where death, darkness, and dullness are lead to life, light, and newness. The service of the light, liturgy of the word, Baptism, and Eucharist are all so original to the Easter Vigil that many Catholics might end up reducing them to “too long or waste of time.” A time to pray with and for our catechumens is indeed a time with the Spirit that our faith is strengthened and blessed by their longing to be part of the Christian Community.

Resurrection is not just the resuscitation of the body. Crucifixion is a historical event, but the resurrection is a faith event. Every Christian must believe in the resurrection of the dead. Every Christian must strive to resurrect his/her spiritual life in all aspects. Every Christian must lead others to their own resurrection. Saint John Paul II encouraged us, “Do not abandon yourselves to despair; we are the Easter People and Alleluia is our song.” A word of thanks to Deacon Paul Flor in preparing Samaya Carrillos who received Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation. A word of thanks to Deacon Larry Bevilacqua in preparing Adrian Parrot who was received into full communion with the Catholic Church. Congratulations to both of you and your families!

150th Anniversary of Catholic Education in Phillipsburg
As the anniversary approaches near, there are preliminary preparations that need to happen. We need to form a leadership team to plan and execute. We are looking for volunteers to be part of the leadership team. All are welcome!

Diocesan programs in the near future: Diocesan Jubilee Pilgrimage to the National Shrine in Washington, DC, (Sept. 20), the Jubilee Mass Series for Hispanic Youth and Young Adults (last Friday of each month), and the Multicultural Fair (May 10).

Jubilee Year 2025: (Jubilees in April 2025)
We have two important Jubilees in April. On April 25-27 we will celebrate the Jubilee for Teenagers and on April 28-29 the Jubilee of People with Disabilities.

Parish Survey on Mass Cancellation: The Parish Pastoral Council, after carefully looking at the survey and statistics, have consulted with me regarding the cancellation of 7am. The majority (90+ families out of 127) would prefer to keep the 9am mass as it concerns the children. It will go into effect on January 1, 2026.

Faith and Service Dinner 2025: We are grateful to the volunteers in honoring Fr. John Barbella and Margie Markus. It was a great evening for our Parish community and the town at large. I thank all of you for being there in honoring the recipients. A special word of thanks to Fr. Pat, Fr. Mark (From the Diocese of Allentown) the family of Margie, Bill Casey, and John Stana. We also thank Mainline and their employees.

Pastor’s Appeal: I am forever grateful to all of you for your generosity. The roof repair has begun in the Mercy Hall Building. As promised we have completed initial repairs to the roof. We will restart the permanent renovation in the spring. In the meantime, we will be acquiring all the restroom and flooring materials for the 3rd floor. I ask you to prayerfully consider helping us with the Pastor’s Appeal this year so that our planned ideas could be implemented in time for our children and for our parish.

Domingo De Pascua De La Resurrección Del Señor

¡Querida familia!

¡Les deseo a todos una Pascua maravillosa y llena de gracia! Siendo este el día más importante para la Iglesia, ¡tengamos presentes la esencia de nuestras creencias! «Por ser el Domingo de Pascua la conmemoración de la Resurrección de Cristo, este día es la mayor solemnidad del año litúrgico» (CIC 1169).

El Catecismo nos recuerda que «la Resurrección permanece en el corazón mismo del misterio de la fe como algo que trasciende y supera la historia. Por eso, Cristo resucitado no se revela al mundo, sino a sus discípulos, «a los que subieron con él de Galilea a Jerusalén, y que ahora son sus testigos ante el pueblo» (CIC 647).

La Vigilia Pascual es la vigilia o todas las vigilias. La liturgia está estructurada para reflexionar y orar con todas las lecturas, donde la muerte, la oscuridad y la monotonía se transforman en vida, luz y novedad. El servicio de la luz, la liturgia de la palabra, el Bautismo y la Eucaristía son tan originales de la Vigilia Pascual que muchos católicos podrían terminar considerándolos demasiado largos o una pérdida de tiempo. Un tiempo para orar con y por nuestros catecúmenos es, sin duda, un tiempo con el Espíritu, donde nuestra fe se fortalece y se bendice por su anhelo de formar parte de la comunidad cristiana.

La resurrección no es solo la resurrección del cuerpo. La crucifixión es un acontecimiento histórico, pero la resurrección es un acontecimiento de fe. Todo cristiano debe creer en la resurrección de los muertos. Todo cristiano debe esforzarse por revitalizar su vida espiritual en todos los aspectos. Todo cristiano debe guiar a otros hacia su propia resurrección. San Juan Pablo II nos animó: «No se abandonen a la desesperación; somos el Pueblo de la Pascua y Aleluya es nuestro canto». Un agradecimiento al diácono Paul Flor por la preparación de Samaya Carrillos, quien recibió el Bautismo, la Comunión y la Confirmación. Un agradecimiento al diácono Larry Bevilacqua por la preparación de Adrian Parrot, quien fue recibido en plena comunión con la Iglesia Católica. ¡Felicidades a ambos y a sus familias!

150.º Aniversario de la Educación Católica en Phillipsburg
A medida que se acerca el aniversario, es necesario realizar preparativos preliminares. Necesitamos formar un equipo de liderazgo para planificar y ejecutar. Buscamos voluntarios para formar parte del equipo de liderazgo. ¡Todos son bienvenidos!

Programas diocesanos en el futuro cercano: Peregrinación Jubilar Diocesana al Santuario Nacional en Washington, DC, (20 de septiembre), la Serie de Misas Jubilar para Jóvenes y Adultos Jóvenes Hispanos (último viernes de cada mes), él y la Feria Multicultural (10 de mayo).

Año Jubilar 2025: (Jubileos en abril de 2025)
En abril se celebran dos Jubileo importantes. Del 25 al 27 de abril, el Jubileo de los Adolescentes; y del 28 al 29 de abril, el Jubileo de las Personas con Discapacidad.

Encuesta Parroquial sobre la Cancelación de Misas: El Consejo Pastoral Parroquial, tras analizar detenidamente la encuesta y las estadísticas, me ha consultado sobre la cancelación de la misa de las 7:00 am. La mayoría (más de 90 familias de 127) preferiría mantener la misa de las 9:00 am por el bien de los niños. Entrará en vigor el 1 de enero de 2026.

Cena de Fe y Servicio 2025: Agradecemos a los voluntarios por honrar al Padre John Barbella y a Margie Markus. Fue una velada maravillosa para nuestra comunidad parroquial y para el pueblo en general. Les agradezco a todos por estar presentes para honrar a los galardonados. Un agradecimiento especial al Padre Pat, al Padre Mark (de la Diócesis de Allentown), a la familia de Margie, a Bill Casey y a John Stana. También agradecemos a Mainline y a sus empleados.

Apelación del Pastor: Les estaré eternamente agradecido por su generosidad. Ya comenzó la reparación del techo del edificio Mercy Hall. Como prometimos, hemos completado las reparaciones iniciales. Reanudaremos la renovación permanente en primavera. Mientras tanto, adquiriremos todos los materiales para los baños y el piso del tercer piso. Les pido que consideren con oración ayudarnos con la Campaña del Párroco este año para que las ideas que hemos planeado se implementen a tiempo para nuestros niños y nuestra parroquia.
