Dear Family!

This year we are blessed to celebrate a collection of solemnities ever since we celebrated the solemnity of Ascension followed by Solemnity of Pentecost, Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Solemnity of Corpus Christi and today we celebrate the Solemnity of St. Peter and St. Paul. We also celebrated two other solemnities during the last week (Solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist and Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus).

Interestingly enough this year, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Sept 15), All Souls Day (Nov 2), Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica (Nov 9) all fall on Sundays.

Though we commemorate and thank God for the mission, martyrdom and eternal life of Peter and Paul we witness how God lead them to a life of faith, dedication and leadership thus they became for all us the examples of true Christian heroism. As in a family we are all called to follow Jesus yet respond to God in our own special way, Peter though called by Jesus in the first year of his ministry, chosen by Jesus as the leader of the Apostles and Vicar over His Kingdom. On the other hand, Jesus only called Paul after his Resurrection and made him the Apostle to the Gentiles.

The church in USA celebrates the Religious Freedom Week (June 22nd to 29th) which concludes today with the Solemnity of Peter and Paul. This years’ theme, “Witnesses to Hope” builds on the annual report released earlier this year by USCCB’s Committee for Religious Liberty.

Last of all, as the conclusion of the Jubilee of Priests (June 27th I am celebrating my 22nd anniversary of my ordination (June 28th). I humbly request you to pray for me to minister to all of you in the way God wants me to!

Diocesan Jubilee Pilgrimage to the National Shrine in Washington, DC, (Sept. 20)
It won’t be a bad idea to hire a bus for our parishioners to make this trip. I request the Legion of Mary, Knights of Columbus and all church ministries to send in the request for seats in the bus by the 15th July. Please call the office to be added to a list.

Transfer of priest in our Parish: There were a quite a few transfers this year in our diocese. Our Bishop has transferred Father Fredy Triana Beltran from our parish to minister as Holy Family Parish, New Brunswick effective August 1st. We will be welcoming Father Alexander A Carles, the Parochial vicar from Mary, Mother of God, Hillsborough to our parish on August 1st. Please pray for these two priests in their transition and thank them for their ministry.

150th Anniversary of Catholic Education in Phillipsburg (Sun, Dec 7th at 11am)
As the anniversary approaches near, there are preliminary preparations that need to happen. Please save the date: Sunday, December 7th, Bishop Checchio will celebrate a special mass at 11am to mark the event. All are welcome!

Jubilee Year 2025: (Jubilees in July)
The Jubilee of Youth (From June 28th to July 3rd) and Jubilee of Digital Missionaries and Catholic Influencers are the only two Jubilees in July. Let us remember all our parish youth, all those who are graduating from high school, college etc. We also remember all this who are involved in sharing Christ’s message in the digital world in some shape or form.

New Coordinators for Liturgical Ministries: Starting July 1, 2025, the Eucharistic Ministers will be coordinated by Beth Ann Dispoto with Margie Markus, Karen Juliano and Robert Hopkins supporting with scheduling. The leadership is renewable every year as we believe in team work and sharing of leadership. If you would like to be a Eucharistic Minister, please contact any Clergy or talk to any Eucharistic Minister. Rob Anselmo, our deacon candidate will coordinate the Lectors and Ushers. Please talk to any clergy or lector if you like to serve as a lector.

The Prophets: Bible study program organized by the Diocese: The diocese will host the Bible study program from September 4th to December 18th. Please see the bulletin for more information.

Summer Choir Camp for 3rd to 8th grade children: Our Cathedral at Metuchen is hosting this event from August 11th to 15th. Please contact the office for more information.

Surviving Divorce (8 week program organized by the Diocese): This program is for couples seeking healing from separation or divorce. It starts on October 1st and ends on November 19th. The sessions will only be on Wednesdays 6:30pm to 8pm at the Pastoral Center. Please see the bulletin for more information.

Santos Pedro Y Pablo, Apóstoles

¡Querida familia!

Este año tenemos la bendición de celebrar diversas solemnidades, desde la de la Ascensión, seguida de la de Pentecostés, la de la Santísima Trinidad, la del Corpus Christi y hoy la de San Pedro y San Pablo. También celebramos otras dos solemnidades la semana pasada (la de la Natividad de San Juan Bautista y la del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús). Curiosamente, este año la Exaltación de la Santa Cruz (15 de septiembre), el Día de los Fieles Difuntos (2 de noviembre) y la de la Dedicación de la Basílica de Letrán (9 de noviembre) caen en domingo.

Aunque conmemoramos y agradecemos a Dios la misión, el martirio y la vida eterna de Pedro y Pablo, somos testigos de cómo Dios los guio a una vida de fe, dedicación y liderazgo, convirtiéndose así en ejemplos de verdadero heroísmo cristiano para todos nosotros. Como en una familia, todos estamos llamados a seguir a Jesús, pero respondiendo a Dios a nuestra manera. Pedro, aunque llamado por Jesús en el primer año de su ministerio, fue elegido por Él como líder de los Apóstoles y Vicario de su Reino. Por otro lado, Jesús solo llamó a Pablo después de su Resurrección y lo nombró Apóstol de los Gentiles.

La iglesia en EE. UU. celebra la Semana de la Libertad Religiosa (del 22 al 29 de junio), que concluye hoy con la Solemnidad de San Pedro y San Pablo. El tema de este año, "Testigos de la Esperanza", se basa en el informe anual publicado a principios de este año por el Comité para la Libertad Religiosa de la USCCB.

Por último, como conclusión del Jubileo de los Sacerdotes (el 27 de junio), estoy celebrando mi 22º aniversario de mi ordenación (el 28 de junio). ¡Humildemente les pido que oren por mí para poder ministrar a todos ustedes de la manera que Dios quiere que lo haga!

Peregrinación Jubilar Diocesana al Santuario Nacional en Washington, DC,
(20 de septiembre) No sería mala idea alquilar un autobús para que nuestros feligreses hagan este viaje. Solicito a la Legión de María, a los Caballeros de Colón y a todos los ministerios de la iglesia que envíen la solicitud de asientos en el autobús antes del 15 de julio. Traslado de sacerdote en nuestra parroquia: Este año hubo varios traslados en nuestra diócesis. Nuestro obispo trasladó al padre Fredy Triana Beltrán de nuestra parroquia a la parroquia de la Sagrada Familia en Nuevo Brunswick, a partir del 1 de agosto. El 1 de agosto daremos la bienvenida al padre Alexander A. Carles, vicario parroquial de María, Madre de Dios, en Hillsborough. Les pedimos que oren por estos dos sacerdotes en su transición y les agradezcan su ministerio.

150.º Aniversario de la Educación Católica en Phillipsburg
A medida que se acerca el aniversario, es necesario realizar los preparativos preliminares. Por favor, reserven la fecha: el domingo 7 de diciembre, el Obispo celebrará una misa especial a las 11:00 am para conmemorar el evento. ¡Son todos bienvenidos!

Año Jubilar 2025: (Jubileos en julio)
El Jubileo de la Juventud (del 28 de junio al 3 de julio) y el Jubileo de los Misioneros Digitales e Influencias Católicos son los únicos dos Jubileos que se celebran en julio. Recordemos a todos los jóvenes de nuestras parroquias, a todos los que se gradúan de la secundaria, la universidad, etc. También recordamos a todos los que, de una forma u otra, comparten el mensaje de Cristo en el mundo digital.

Nuevos Coordinadores de Ministerios Litúrgicos: A partir del 1 de julio de 2025, los Ministros de la Eucaristía serán coordinados por Beth Ann Dispoto, con el apoyo de Margie Markus, Karen Juliano y Robert Hopkins en la programación. El liderazgo es renovable cada año, ya que creemos en el trabajo en equipo y en compartir el liderazgo. Si desea ser Ministro de la Eucaristía, comuníquese con cualquier clérigo o hable con cualquier Ministro de la Eucaristía. Campamento de Coro de Verano para niños de 3.º a 8.º grado: Nuestra Catedral en Metuchen ofrecerá este evento del 11 al 15 de agosto. Para más información, comuníquese con la oficina.

Sobreviviendo al Divorcio (programa de 8 semanas organizado por la Diócesis): Este programa está dirigido a parejas que buscan sanar tras una separación o divorcio. Comienza el 1 de octubre y termina el 19 de noviembre. Las sesiones se realizarán únicamente los miércoles de 18:30 a 20:00 h en el Centro Pastoral. Para más información, consulte el boletín.
