Dear Family!

After five weeks of preparation, we enter into Holy Week. ‘Hosanna’ means ‘save us’. This is the first cry of the people as Jesus rides into Jerusalem. Thats what exactly Jesus did - he completed the race - he followed through. Jesus journey of the Holy Week has the beginning in the prayerful intercessions of people. His complete surrender In the Father is the key to how we journey our Holy Week. Let us meditate on what the contemporary popes taught us in recent times:

Recognizing him as King means accepting him as the One who shows us the way, in whom we trust and whom we follow. It means accepting his word day after day as a valid criterion for our life. “However, faith in Christ can never be taken for granted. The reading of his Passion sets us before Christ, living in his Church. The Easter Mystery that we will relive during the days of Holy Week is always present. Today we are contemporaries of the Lord and, like the multitude in Jerusalem, like the disciples and the women, we are called to decide if we are to be with him, or flee, or just be spectators at his death. When the Pharisees ask him to silence the children and the others who are acclaiming him, he responds: “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out” (Lk 19:40). 150th Anniversary of Catholic Education in Phillipsburg
As the anniversary approaches near, there are preliminary preparations that need to happen. We need to form a leadership team to plan and execute. We are looking for volunteers to be part of the leadership team. All are welcome!

Diocesan programs in the near future: Diocesan Jubilee Pilgrimage to the National Shrine in Washington, DC, (Sept. 20), the Jubilee Mass Series for Hispanic Youth and Young Adults (last Friday of each month), and the Multicultural Fair (May 10).

Jubilee Year 2025: (Jubilees in April 2025)
We have two important Jubilees coming up in April. April 25-27 we celebrate the Jubilee for Teenagers and on April 28-29 the Jubilee of People with Disabilities.

Parish Survey on Mass Cancellation: The Parish Pastoral Council, after carefully looking at the survey and statistics, have consulted with me regarding the cancellation of 7am. The majority (90+ families out of 127) would prefer to keep the 9am mass as it concerns the children. It will go into effect on January 1, 2026.

Lenten Retreat for our Parish: We are grateful to Father Luke Mary Fletcher and Brother Pius from the Blue Army Shrine to preach this year’s Lenten Recollection for our parish. Thank you for all of your participation and support.

Pastor’s Appeal: I am forever grateful to all of you for your generosity. The roof repair has begun in the Mercy Hall Building. As promised we have completed initial repairs to the roof. We will restart the permanent renovation in the spring. In the meantime, we will be acquiring all the restroom and flooring materials for the 3rd floor. I ask you to prayerfully consider helping us with the Pastor’s Appeal this year so that our planned ideas could be implemented in time for our children and for our parish.

¡Querida familia!

Tras cinco semanas de preparación, entramos en la Semana Santa. «Hosanna» significa «sálvanos». Este es el primer grito del pueblo cuando Jesús entra en Jerusalén. Eso es exactamente lo que hizo Jesús: completó la carrera, la perseveró. El camino de Jesús en la Semana Santa comienza con la intercesión de la gente. Su completa entrega al Padre es la clave de cómo transitamos nuestra Semana Santa. Meditemos sobre lo que los papas contemporáneos nos han enseñado recientemente:

El Papa Benedicto XVI, al referirse a la procesión de las palmas, dijo: «La procesión de las palmas es también una procesión de Cristo Rey: Profesamos la realeza de Jesucristo; reconocemos a Jesús como el Hijo de David, el verdadero Salomón, el Rey de la paz y la justicia. Reconocerlo como Rey significa aceptarlo como Aquel que nos muestra el camino, en quien confiamos y a quien seguimos. Significa aceptar su palabra día tras día como criterio válido para nuestra vida. Significa reconocer en él la autoridad a la que nos sometemos. Nos sometemos a él porque su autoridad es la autoridad de la verdad». —Domingo de Ramos, 1 de abril de 2007

Sin embargo, la fe en Cristo nunca puede darse por sentada. La lectura de su Pasión nos sitúa ante Cristo, viviendo en su Iglesia. El Misterio Pascual que reviviremos durante los días de la Semana Santa está siempre presente. Hoy somos contemporáneos del Señor y, como la multitud en Jerusalén, como los discípulos y las mujeres, estamos llamados a decidir si estamos con él, si huimos, o si nos limitamos a ser espectadores de su muerte. Jesús se complace con el cariño que la multitud le demuestra. Cuando los fariseos le piden que silencie a los niños y a los demás que lo aclaman, responde: «Les digo que si estos callaran, las piedras gritarían» (Lc 19,40). Nada podría apagar su entusiasmo por la entrada de Jesús. Que nada nos impida encontrar en él la fuente de nuestra alegría, la verdadera alegría, que perdura y trae paz; porque solo Jesús nos salva de las trampas del pecado, la muerte, el miedo y la tristeza. 150.º Aniversario de la Educación Católica en Phillipsburg
A medida que se acerca el aniversario, es necesario realizar preparativos preliminares. Necesitamos formar un equipo de liderazgo para planificar y ejecutar. Buscamos voluntarios para formar parte del equipo de liderazgo. ¡Todos son bienvenidos!

Programas diocesanos en el futuro cercano: Peregrinación Jubilar Diocesana al Santuario Nacional en Washington, DC, (20 de septiembre), la Serie de Misas Jubilar para Jóvenes y Adultos Jóvenes Hispanos (último viernes de cada mes), él y la Feria Multicultural (10 de mayo).

Año Jubilar 2025: (Jubileos en abril de 2025)
En abril se celebran dos Jubileo importantes. Del 25 al 27 de abril, el Jubileo de los Adolescentes; y del 28 al 29 de abril, el Jubileo de las Personas con Discapacidad.

Encuesta Parroquial sobre la Cancelación de Misas: El Consejo Pastoral Parroquial, tras analizar detenidamente la encuesta y las estadísticas, me ha consultado sobre la cancelación de la misa de las 7:00 am. La mayoría (más de 90 familias de 127) preferiría mantener la misa de las 9:00 am por el bien de los niños. Entrará en vigor el 1 de enero de 2026.

Retiro de Cuaresma para nuestra parroquia: Agradecemos al Padre Luke Mary Fletcher y al Hermano Pius, del Santuario del Ejército Azul, por predicar el Retiro Cuaresmal de este año en nuestra parroquia. Gracias por su participación y apoyo.

Apelación del Pastor: Les estaré eternamente agradecido por su generosidad. Ya comenzó la reparación del techo del edificio Mercy Hall. Como prometimos, hemos completado las reparaciones iniciales. Reanudaremos la renovación permanente en primavera. Mientras tanto, adquiriremos todos los materiales para los baños y el piso del tercer piso. Les pido que consideren con oración ayudarnos con la Campaña del Párroco este año para que las ideas que hemos planeado se implementen a tiempo para nuestros niños y nuestra parroquia.
