Dear Family!

The Church has always stressed the importance of Confession, especially in Lent. I invite all parish families to frequent the Sacrament of Reconciliation. There are plenty of opportunities the parish offers for all of you!

For a Jew, scripture is a collection of scrolls and later came be called the TANAKH. It is a made-up word from the 1st letter of the three words, Torah (Law), Neviim (Prophets), Ketuvim (Writings).

Moses representing the Torah and Elijah representing the Prophets had personal encounters with God on the holy mountain (Sinai or Horeb): Moses in the fire of the burning bush and Elijah through the gentle whisper of God’s voice.

At the beginning of the Second Sunday of Lent, the reflection on the readings, especially the Gospel encourages us to identify ‘a good place to be’ for our growth in spirituality and holiness. ‘The best place to be’ is always at the company of Jesus where the totally of Scripture is being fulfilled and we be a part of the fulfillment of God’s promise to our people.

The Catechism teaches us, “On the threshold of the public life: the baptism; on the threshold of the Passover: the Transfiguration. Jesus' baptism proclaimed, "the mystery of the first regeneration", namely, our Baptism; the Transfiguration "is the sacrament of the second regeneration": our own Resurrection. From now on we share in the Lord's Resurrection through the Spirit who acts in the sacraments of the Body of Christ. The Transfiguration gives us a foretaste of Christ's glorious coming, when he "will change our lowly body to be like his glorious body." But it also recalls that "it is through many persecutions that we must enter the kingdom of God”: (CCC 556)

The disciples had to come down from the mountain as being with Jesus means not staying up on the mountain. Our God-experiences cannot just remain a God-experience and nothing more! Our God- experiences need to be translated into our Christian sentiments of love and compassion towards people especially the poor and the needy. Please join me in thanking all the people who are involved in ministry at our parish. God calls you to join them!

Pastor’s Appeal - Thanks to all of you for your efforts: I am forever grateful to all of you for your generosity. Thank you for all your donations! Both the projects (Mercy Hall boiler and the Church Doors) are now completed, thanks to all of you and your support and prayers! You have made this possible for your parish. Though we have completed these two important projects, they are not paid for yet. We have scheduled a monthly plan with the companies to pay for them over a period of one year. Your continued support and prayers are still needed to complete them.

Chrism Mass will be at the Cathedral on Tuesday, March 31st at 4pm. Bishop Bootkoski will be the Celebrant.

Rite of Election: The Diocese has cancelled the Rite of Election this year and instead asked the respective parishes to have it in the parishes. We need to do the Rite of Election before the 3rd Sunday of Lent; thus, we are having the Rite of Election in our parish during the 9am Mass. Please remember and pray for all our candidates.

Order of Christian Funerals - Survey
The USCCB Secretariat of Divine Worship, in collaboration with the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions (FDLC), has prepared a national survey on the Order of Christian Funerals. This survey will assist the bishops of the Committee on Divine Worship as they review the ICEL Green Book translation. The feedback received will play a critical role as the Committee reviews the rites and texts which have no equivalent in the Latin editio typica. They kindly ask anyone involved in ministry to the dead and bereaved to complete the survey. The survey should take between 15 - 20 minutes. 2º Domingo de Cuaresma

¡Querida familia!

La Iglesia siempre ha enfatizado la importancia de la Confesión, especialmente durante la Cuaresma. Invito a todas las familias de la parroquia a frecuentar el Sacramento de la Reconciliación. ¡La parroquia ofrece muchas oportunidades para todos ustedes!

Para un judío, la Escritura es una colección de rollos que posteriormente se denominaron Tanaj. Es una palabra compuesta por la primera letra de las tres palabras: Torá (Ley), Neviim (Profetas) y Ketuvim (Escritos). Moisés, representando la Torá, y Elías, representando a los Profetas, tuvieron encuentros personales con Dios en el monte sagrado (Sinaí u Horeb): Moisés en el fuego de la zarza ardiente y Elías a través del suave susurro de la voz de Dios.

Al comienzo del Segundo Domingo de Cuaresma, la reflexión sobre las lecturas, especialmente el Evangelio, nos anima a identificar un buen lugar para nuestro crecimiento en espiritualidad y santidad. El mejor lugar para estar es siempre en compañía de Jesús, donde se cumple plenamente la Escritura y somos parte del cumplimiento de la promesa de Dios a nuestro pueblo.

El Catecismo nos enseña: «En el umbral de la vida pública: el bautismo; en el umbral de la Pascua: la Transfiguración. El bautismo de Jesús proclamó el misterio de la primera regeneración, es decir, nuestro Bautismo; la Transfiguración es el sacramento de la segunda regeneración: nuestra propia Resurrección. De ahora en adelante, participamos de la Resurrección del Señor por medio del Espíritu que actúa en los sacramentos del Cuerpo de Cristo. La Transfiguración nos anticipa la gloriosa venida de Cristo, cuando él «transformará nuestro cuerpo de humillación en semejante a su cuerpo glorioso». Pero también nos recuerda que «es necesario que a través de muchas persecuciones entremos en el reino de Dios» (CIC 556).

Los discípulos tuvieron que bajar de la montaña, pues estar con Jesús significa no quedarse arriba. ¡Nuestras experiencias con Dios no pueden limitarse a eso! Nuestras experiencias con Dios deben traducirse en sentimientos cristianos de amor y compasión hacia las personas, especialmente hacia los pobres y necesitados. Les pido que se unan a mí para agradecer a todas las personas que participan en el ministerio de nuestra parroquia. ¡Dios los llama a unirse a ellos!

Apelación del Pastor - Gracias a todos por su esfuerzo: Les estaré eternamente agradecido por su generosidad. ¡Gracias por todas sus donaciones! Ambos proyectos (la calefacción en Mercy Hall y las puertas de la iglesia) ya están terminados. Gracias a todos ustedes, a su apoyo y a sus oraciones. Ustedes han hecho esto posible para su parroquia. Aunque hemos completado estos dos importantes proyectos, aún no están pagos. Hemos acordado un plan mensual con las empresas para pagarlos durante un año. Se necesitan su continuo apoyo y oraciones para saldarlos.

La Misa Crismal se celebrará en la Catedral el martes 31 de marzo a las 4pm. El obispo Bootkoski será el celebrante.

Rito de Elección: La Diócesis ha cancelado el Rito de Elección este año y, en su lugar, ha solicitado a las parroquias que lo celebren en sus parroquias. Necesitamos celebrar el Rito de Elección antes del tercer domingo de Cuaresma; por lo tanto, lo celebraremos en nuestra parroquia durante la misa de las 9:00 am. Por favor, recuerden y oren por todos nuestros candidatos.

Ritual de Exequias Cristianas - Encuesta
La Secretaría del Culto Divino de la USCCB, en colaboración con la Federación de Comisiones Litúrgicas Diocesanas (FDLC), ha preparado una encuesta nacional sobre el Ritual de Exequias Cristianas. Esta encuesta ayudará a los obispos del Comité de Culto Divino en la revisión de la traducción del Libro Verde de la ICEL. Los comentarios recibidos serán cruciales para que el Comité revise los ritos y textos que no tienen equivalente en la edición típica latina. Solicitan a cualquier persona involucrada en el ministerio con los difuntos y las personas en duelo que complete la encuesta. La encuesta debería tomar entre 15 y 20 minutos.
