On July 16, 1251, the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Simon Stock, giving him a scapular saying “Receive, my beloved son, this scapular. Whosoever dies wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire. It shall be a sign of Salvation, a protection in danger and a pledge of peace.”
