Dear Family!

The Fourth Sunday of Easter is traditionally known as ‘The Good Shepherd Sunday’. All three years (A, B & C) we read from the same parable (John 10). The sacred writers of the Old Testament beautifully presented God as the Good Shepherd and the sacred writers of the New Testament presented Jesus as the Good Shepherd since they perfectly understood and believed that Jesus is the incarnation Word of God the Father, revealing to us His identity by what he does as the Good Shepherd. In the same way ‘the sheep’ or ‘the flock’ is the land and people of Israel in the Old Testament and ‘The Church’ in the New Testament.

Every leadership in the church is modeled on the leadership of Jesus Christ our Shepherd. This Sunday is a grace-filled time for us to pray for vocations to the Priesthood, Diaconate and to religious life. We hope and pray that God continues to be generous to our community in providing to us good deacons.

“The similitude of the “Good Shepherd” is not directed only at one who carries out in the church the ministry of the presidency, but to every Christian. Every disciple must have a heart of a true shepherd; he/she must cultivate the unconditional generosity of the Master with regards to persons.” St. Augustine once said, “The shepherd is to be loved, the hireling is to be tolerated, of the robber must we beware.” He refers these three characters to three classes of priests. This applies to all leadership.

Our Bishop will be here for Confirmation: Today is our Bishop’s Birthday. Please remember and pray for our bishop and his vocation to lead us. On Tuesday, April 23rd, our Bishop will be confirming all our confirmandi at 5pm Mass in our Church. Please make every effort to participate in the Mass and greet our Bishop on this special visit.

Bible Study on The Acts of the Apostles: All are welcome! As you probably know that it takes hours of preparation to put together the Bible Study. I thank all of those who have signed up for these studies. Every Thursday at 1:30pm in Mercy Hall we gather to study the scripture.It is never too late to join the study. Every time you participate you will appreciate the rich treasures of the Wisdom of the Word of God.

Eucharistic Renewal: I would like to thank Monsignor John Gordon for the April Seminar on the Eucharist. The Seminar this past March touched upon important questions people may have and would like to learn the Church’s answers to those important questions. People who have attended expressed to me to have more of such sessions. We will have a continuation of this session on Wednesday, May 8th, at 6:30pm. Please join the community!

Confessions: In addition to our regular confession time (Saturday 10am and 3:15pm) I have added weekday confessions during office hours (Monday to Friday) so that people would have more opportunities to avail themselves of the Sacrament. Please call the office for confession opportunities. Priests are available to journey with you!

Our Prayers for RCIA Candidates: Please remember all the candidates who have received their sacraments at Easter Vigil.

Faith and Service Dinner: It is an important fundraiser for our School. As you have noted earlier, this year’s chosen recipients of Faith & Service awards are Father Pat Boyle and Kevin & Kelly Perna. It is never too late to purchase tickets for the dinner. My sincere thanks to Bill Casey and the whole team in organizing the dinner. As we thank Fr. Pat and Kevin & Kelly, we continue to pray for Catholic Education.

Ordinary Maintenance Projects: Our chapel renovation will be starting soon as we are working to get a schedule ready to relocate adoration opportunities for parishioners. I would like to thank all the volunteers who continue to care for our facilities. Skilled people such as painters, electricians, plumbers and carpenters are all welcomed to volunteer in these projects.

Cuarto Domingo de Pascua

¡Querida familia!

El Cuarto Domingo de Pascua se conoce tradicionalmente como “Domingo del Buen Pastor”. Los tres años (A, B y C) leemos la misma parábola (Juan 10). Los escritores sagrados del Antiguo Testamento presentaron bellamente a Dios como el Buen Pastor y los escritores sagrados del Nuevo Testamento presentaron a Jesús como el Buen Pastor ya que entendieron y creyeron perfectamente que Jesús es la encarnación Verbo de Dios Padre, revelándonos Su identidad. por lo que hace como Buen Pastor. De la misma manera “las ovejas” o “el rebaño” es la tierra y el pueblo de Israel en el Antiguo Testamento y “La Iglesia” en el Nuevo Testamento.

Todo liderazgo en la iglesia sigue el modelo del liderazgo de Jesucristo nuestro Pastor. Este domingo es un tiempo lleno de gracia para orar por las vocaciones al sacerdocio, al diaconado y a la vida religiosa. Esperamos y oramos para que Dios continúe siendo generoso con nuestra comunidad al brindarnos buenos diáconos.

“La semejanza del “Buen Pastor” no está dirigida sólo a quien desempeña en la iglesia el ministerio de la presidencia, sino a todo cristiano. Todo discípulo debe tener un corazón de verdadero pastor; debe cultivar la generosidad incondicional del Maestro hacia las personas”. San Agustín dijo una vez: “Hay que amar al pastor, hay que tolerar a los mercenarios, debemos tener cuidado con el ladrón”. Remite a estos tres personajes a tres clases de sacerdotes. Esto se aplica a todo liderazgo.

Nuestro Obispo estará aquí para la Confirmación: Hoy es el cumpleaños de nuestro obispo. Por favor recuerden y oren por nuestro obispo y su vocación de guiarnos. El martes 23 de abril, nuestro Obispo confirmará a todos nuestros confirmandos en la Misa de las 5 p.m. en nuestra Iglesia. Haga todo lo posible para participar en la Misa y saludar a nuestro Obispo en esta visita especial.

Estudio Bíblico sobre Los Hechos de los Apóstoles: ¡Todos son bienvenidos! Como probablemente saben, se necesitan horas de preparación para preparar un estudio bíblico. Agradezco a todos los que se han apuntado a estos estudios. Todos los jueves a la 1:30 pm en Mercy Hall nos reunimos para estudiar las Escrituras. Nunca es demasiado tarde para unirse al estudio. Cada vez que participes apreciarás los ricos tesoros de la Sabiduría de la Palabra de Dios.

Avivamiento Eucarístico: Me gustaría agradecer a Monseñor John Gordon por la charla sobre la Eucaristía de abril. La charla del marzo pasado abordó preguntas importantes que las personas pueden tener y les gustaría saber las respuestas de la Iglesia a esas preguntas importantes. Las personas que han asistido me expresaron que si habrá más sesiones de este tipo. Tendremos una continuación de esta sesión el miércoles 8 de mayo a las 6:30 pm. ¡Únase a la comunidad!

Confesiones: Además de nuestro horario habitual de confesión (sábado a las 10 am y 3:15 pm), he agregado confesiones entre semana durante el horario de oficina (de lunes a viernes) para que las personas tengan más oportunidades de aprovechar el Sacramento. Llame a la oficina para oportunidades de confesión. ¡Los sacerdotes están disponibles para viajar contigo!

Nuestras oraciones para los candidatos de RICA: Recuerde a todos los candidatos que han recibido sus sacramentos en la Vigilia Pascual.

Cena de Fe y Servicio: Es una importante recaudación de fondos para nuestra escuela. Como se han dado cuenta, los elegidos de este año para los reconocimientos de Fe y Servicio son el Padre Pat Boyle y Kevin & Kelly Perna. Nunca es demasiado tarde para comprar entradas para la cena. Mi más sincero agradecimiento a Bill Casey y a todo el equipo por organizar la cena. Mientras agradecemos al P. Pat y Kevin & Kelly, seguimos orando por la educación católica.

Proyectos de mantenimiento: La renovación de nuestra capilla comenzará pronto mientras estamos trabajando para preparar un cronograma para reubicar a los que asisten la adoración para los feligreses. Me gustaría agradecer a todos los voluntarios que siguen cuidando nuestras instalaciones. Personas cualificadas como pintores, electricistas, fontaneros y carpinteros son bienvenidas como voluntarias en estos proyectos.
