Dear Family!

Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers, grandfathers, Godfathers, and priests! I thank all of you for your support and prayers to Deacon Enock on his 25th anniversary of his Diaconate. We had a special thanksgiving mass for him last week at 11am and I thank all the volunteers in preparing for his reception. We were glad for Deacon Enock’s family for their participation and thanking God for Deacon Enock’s continued service and ministry to our parish.

We are grateful to God for looking down on us in identifying our new principal. The Search Committee have worked hard in preparing all the necessary procedures in recommending Mrs. Patricia Bell to succeed Mrs. Donna Kucinski as our new principal. We wish both of them and pray for them. With more than 30 years of service as a teacher and as a principal at our school, Donna has done a great service to Catholic Education in general and particularly to our parochial school. We wish her well as she begins a new chapter in her life. We also wish Mrs. Patricia Bell in accepting the position of the principal. Your prayers and support are very crucial as she begins her ministry at our parochial school. More information about Patricia will be published in the next bulletin and in our website.

I thank the 72 Disciples team in hosting our second talk on Eucharist: Eucharist and the Second Vatican Council. As we continue to learn and be more informed in matters of faith, these community gathering are helping us grow as a parish. Monsignor Malevetz and is talk on this topic has been an eye-opener to many of you! There are many more talks being organized every month at our parish. Please make use of these opportunity to grow in your faith and community witnessing.

As part of our ongoing preparation to grow in our Eucharistic Spirituality we have organized a monthly Holy Hour on First Fridays every month at our Parish Church. Every first Friday we begin the Holy Hour at 6pm and the Benediction will be at 7pm. Please help us spread the word and be part of community prayer in these holy hours. As June is the month of the Sacred Heart, and also the beginning of the Eucharistic Revival in parish level, it is a great way to stress the importance of the Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. Please come as a family to spend time with the Lord!

The Gospel reminds us the mission of every Christian. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us, “Jesus is the Father's Emissary. From the beginning of his ministry, he "called to him those whom he desired; . . . . And he appointed twelve, whom also he named apostles, to be with him, and to be sent out to preach. From then on, they would also be his “emissaries” (Greek apostoloi). so, them, Christ continues his own mission: "As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. The apostles' ministry is the continuation of his mission; Jesus said to the Twelve: "he who receives you receives me.” (CCC 858)

The Catechism further teaches us how we are part of the Plan of God in building the Kingdom. “The Church is born primarily of Christ's total self-giving for our salvation, anticipated in the institution of the Eucharist and fulfilled on the cross. "The origin and growth of the Church are symbolized by the blood and water which flowed from the open side of the crucified Jesus.” "For it was from the side of Christ as he slept the sleep of death upon the cross that there came forth the 'wondrous sacrament of the whole Church.'" As Eve was formed from the sleeping Adam's side, so the Church was born from the pierced heart of Christ hanging dead on the cross. (CCC 766)

As the Gospel presents two beautiful yet challenging scenarios (1. the people were without a shepherd and 2. a need for laborers who could harvest so people have food) where the call of the disciples began we still see how relevant the vocation of God to each one in not just to these two challenging scenarios but many more present life situations.

Pope Benedict talking about the mission of the apostles taught, “Holiness is always a force that transforms others. In this regard, it is useful to reflect that the Twelve Apostles were not perfect men, chosen for their moral and religious irreproachability. They were indeed believers, full of enthusiasm and zeal but at the same time marked by their human limitations, which were sometimes even serious. Therefore, Jesus did not call them because they were already holy, complete, perfect, but so that they might become so, so that they might thereby also transform history, as it is for us, as it is for all Christians.” (Homily in Apulia, Italy on Sunday, 15th June 2008)

Querida Familia!

¡Feliz día del padre a todos los padres, abuelos, padrinos y sacerdotes!

Les agradezco a todos por su apoyo y oraciones al Diácono Enock en su 25 aniversario de su Diaconado. Tuvimos una misa especial de acción de gracias para él la semana pasada a las 11 am y agradezco a todos los voluntarios que se prepararon para su recepción. Nos alegramos por la participación de la familia del Diácono Enock y agradecimos a Dios por el continuo servicio y ministerio del Diácono Enock a nuestra parroquia.

Estamos agradecidos con Dios por menospreciarnos al identificar a nuestro nuevo director. El Comité de Búsqueda ha trabajado arduamente en la preparación de todos los procedimientos necesarios para recomendar a la Sra. Patricia Bell para suceder a la Sra. Donna Kucinski como nuestra nueva directora. Les deseamos a los dos y rezamos por ellos. Con más de 30 años de servicio como maestra y directora de nuestra escuela, Donna ha hecho un gran servicio a la Educación Católica en general y en particular a nuestra escuela parroquial. Le deseamos lo mejor mientras comienza un nuevo capítulo en su vida. También deseamos que la Sra. Patricia Bell acepte el cargo de directora. Agradezco al equipo de 72 Discípulos por organizar nuestra segunda charla sobre la Eucaristía: La Eucaristía y el Concilio Vaticano Segundo. A medida que continuamos aprendiendo y estando más informados en asuntos de fe, estas reuniones comunitarias nos ayudan a crecer como parroquia. ¡Monseñor Malevetz y su charla sobre este tema ha sido una revelación para muchos de ustedes! Cada mes se organizan muchas más charlas en nuestra parroquia. Aproveche esta oportunidad para crecer en su fe y testificar en la comunidad.

Como parte de nuestra preparación continua para crecer en nuestra Espiritualidad Eucarística, hemos organizado una Hora Santa mensual los primeros viernes de cada mes en nuestra Iglesia Parroquial. Cada primer viernes comenzamos la Hora Santa a las 6 pm y la Bendición será a las 7 pm. Por favor ayúdenos a correr la voz y sea parte de la oración comunitaria en estas horas santas. Como junio es el mes del Sagrado Corazón, y también el comienzo del Avivamiento Eucarístico a nivel parroquial, es una excelente manera de enfatizar la importancia de la Presencia Real en el Santísimo Sacramento. ¡Venga en familia a pasar tiempo con el Señor!

El Evangelio nos recuerda la misión de todo cristiano. El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica nos enseña, “Jesús es el Emisario del Padre. Desde el comienzo de su ministerio, "llamó a sí a los que quiso...

Y nombró a doce, a los cuales también llamó apóstoles, para que estuvieran con él y fueran enviados a predicar. Desde entonces, ellos serían también sus “emisarios” (griego apostoloi). Así, en ellos, Cristo continúa su propia misión: “Como me envió el Padre, así también yo os envío. El ministerio de los apóstoles es la continuación de su misión; Jesús dijo a los Doce: “El que os recibe a vosotros, me recibe a mí”. (CCC 858)

El Catecismo nos enseña además cómo somos parte del Plan de Dios en la construcción del Reino. “La Iglesia nace ante todo de la entrega total de Cristo por nuestra salvación, anticipada en la institución de la Eucaristía y realizada en la cruz. "El origen y el crecimiento de la Iglesia están simbolizados por la sangre y el agua que manaron del costado abierto de Jesús crucificado". "Porque fue del costado de Cristo mientras dormía el sueño de la muerte sobre la cruz de donde salió el 'maravilloso sacramento de toda la Iglesia'". el corazón traspasado de Cristo colgado muerto en la cruz (CCC 766)

Como el Evangelio presenta dos escenarios hermosos pero desafiantes primero la gente estaba sin pastor y segundo la necesidad de trabajadores que pudieran cosechar para que la gente tuviera comida) donde comenzó el llamado de los discípulos, todavía vemos cuán relevante es la vocación de Dios para cada uno no solo en estos dos escenarios desafiantes, sino en muchas más situaciones de la vida presente.

El Papa Benedicto, hablando de la misión de los apóstoles, enseñó: “La santidad es siempre una fuerza que transforma a los demás. Al respecto, es útil reflexionar que los Doce Apóstoles no fueron hombres perfectos, elegidos por su irreprochable moral y religiosa. Eran, en efecto, creyentes, llenos de entusiasmo y de celo, pero al mismo tiempo marcados por sus limitaciones humanas, a veces incluso graves. Por tanto, Jesús no los llamó porque ya fueran santos, completos, perfectos, sino para que lo fueran, para que así transformaran también la historia, como lo es para nosotros, como lo es para todos los cristianos”.
