Dear Family!

Reflection: As we are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, let us be mindful of all God’s blessings for us. God has blessed our land with countless blessings: clean water, abundant food, opportunity, education, employment and the additional thousands of blessings which not many other countries are blessed with. Our blessings can be compared to the ‘Talents’ that the employer entrusts with his servants. We are blessed to receive the ‘Most’. As a country that has been blessed and entrusted with the responsibility, how we respond to that ‘vocation’ matters today and now.

All our blessings point to God’s unconditional and generous love for us. As a community we have received God’s blessings to nurture life and create a society of people. Oscar Wilde said, “Whenever people agree with me I always feel I must be wrong.” Our unity could reveal our ‘Talents’ to us. Our unity could give us direction to work towards the Talents that are given to us. Our unity compels us to strive after and increase the work of the Holy Spirit in us. We may disagree but we are not against each other.

The Catechism teaches us, “I distribute the virtues quite diversely; I do not give all of them to each person, but some to one, some to others. . . . I shall give principally charity to one; justice to another; humility to this one, a living faith to that one. . . . And so, I have given many gifts and graces, both spiritual and temporal, with such diversity that I have not given everything to one single person, so that you may be constrained to practice charity towards one another. . . . I have willed that one should need another and that all should be my ministers in distributing the graces and gifts they have received from me.” (Catherine of Siena in CCC 1937). Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Eucharistic Revival Seminar: My sincere thanks to all the volunteers of ’72 Disciples’ ministry. Our Eighth seminar will be on Dec 13th, 6:30pm. Fr. Gilbert Starcher will be presenting the seminar “Eucharist and the Effects of Holy Communion.” This is a great opportunity as we are the only lucky parish in the whole diocese to have regular community learning when it comes to monthly seminars and bible study. It would be a great opportunity to see Fr. Gilbert again and learn from him.

I continue to encourage you to make an effort to be part of the community learning. It is crucial for the present and future of our faith and church that we learn and live our faith together.

Bible Study: We started our Bible Study on October 25th at 5pm in Mercy Hall with the Gospel According to St. Mark. We have scheduled 9 classes leading up to Christmas. We meet every Wednesdays at 5pm for an hour of learning. We have just completed our 4th class on ‘A New Israel & the Parables (Mark 3:7 - 4:34) on the 15th of November. The 5th Class will be on November 29th. We will be learning “Authority of Jesus, Unbelief in Jesus & the Mission” (Mark 4:35 - 6:32). Please encourage your loved ones to attend this Bible Study.

Confession Time Change: Our parish Confession times are as follows: Saturdays 9am to 9:30am and Saturdays 3:15pm to 4:15pm. For pastoral reasons, we are only moving the Saturday Morning confessions to 10am - 10:45am (there is no change to the Saturday afternoon confessions). We begin this new time from the 1st Sunday of Advent (December 3rd, 2023). Please help us to spread the word. There will be confessions available during the week. There are more opportunities to go to confessions at our parish. Please call the parish office 908-454-0112 Monday to Friday 10-12, and 3-4pm.

Parish Census: We have begun this initiative. There will be volunteers reaching out to you by phone. Please help them to update any available information for the good of the parish. As a parish we are obligated to give the diocese the right count on how many parishioners we have. It also helps us to prepare and plan our daily affairs like budget and future planning. It is also important to update our parish census as to sacramental entries, deaths and absence of people due to change of address etc. I thank all volunteers in being part of this important obligation.

Holy Hour: Every first Friday of the month we have holy hour in English at 6pm in the Church.

NOTICIAS EN ESPAÑOL

¡Querida familia!

Reflexión: Mientras nos preparamos para celebrar el Día de Acción de Gracias este año, seamos conscientes de todas las bendiciones de Dios para nosotros. Dios ha bendecido nuestra tierra con innumerables bendiciones: agua potable, comida abundante, oportunidades, educación, empleo y miles de bendiciones adicionales con las que no muchos otros países han sido bendecidos. Nuestras bendiciones pueden compararse con los "Talentos" que el empleador confía a sus sirvientes.

Tenemos la suerte de recibir el "Más". Como país que ha sido bendecido y al que se le ha confiado la responsabilidad, cómo respondemos a esa “vocación” es importante hoy y ahora.

Todas nuestras bendiciones apuntan al amor incondicional y generoso de Dios por nosotros. Como comunidad hemos recibido las bendiciones de Dios para nutrir la vida y crear una sociedad de personas. Oscar Wilde dijo: "Siempre que la gente está de acuerdo conmigo, siempre siento que debo estar equivocado". Nuestra unidad podría revelarnos nuestros “Talentos”. Nuestra unidad podría darnos dirección para trabajar hacia los Talentos que se nos dan.

Nuestra unidad nos obliga a esforzarnos y aumentar la obra del Espíritu Santo en nosotros. Podemos no estar de acuerdo pero no estamos uno contra el otro.

El Catecismo nos enseña. “Distribuyo las virtudes de manera muy diversa; No se los doy todos a cada uno, sino algunos a uno, otros a otros. . . . A uno le daré principalmente caridad; justicia a otro; humildad para éste, una fe viva para aquel. . . . Por eso os he dado muchos dones y gracias, tanto espirituales como temporales, con tal diversidad que no lo he dado todo a una sola persona, para que os obliguéis a practicar la caridad unos con otros. . . . He querido que unos tengan necesidad de otros y que todos sean mis ministros en la distribución de las gracias y dones que de mí han recibido”. (Catalina de Siena en CCC 1937). ¡Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias a todos!

Charla de Avivamiento Eucarístico: Mi más sincero agradecimiento a todos los voluntarios del ministerio '72 Discípulos'. Nuestra octavo charla será el 13 de diciembre a las 6:30pm. P. Gilbert Starcher presentará el seminario “La Eucaristía y los efectos de la Sagrada Comunión”. Esta es una gran oportunidad ya que somos la única parroquia afortunada en toda la diócesis que tiene aprendizaje comunitario regular en lo que respecta a seminarios mensuales y estudio bíblico. Sería una gran oportunidad para ver al P. Gilbert nuevamente y aprender de él. Sigo animándote a que hagas un esfuerzo por ser parte de la comunidad de aprendizaje. Es crucial para el presente y el futuro de nuestra fe y de nuestra iglesia que aprendamos y vivamos nuestra fe juntos.

Estudio Bíblico: Comenzamos nuestro Estudio Bíblico el 25 de octubre a las 5pm en Mercy Hall con el Evangelio Según San Marcos. Hemos programado 9 clases previas a Navidad. Nos reunimos todos los miércoles a las 5 p.m. para una hora de aprendizaje. Acabamos de completar nuestra cuarta clase sobre 'Un nuevo Israel y las parábolas (Marcos 3:7 - 4:34) el 15 de noviembre. La quinta clase será el 29 de noviembre. Aprenderemos “La autoridad de Jesús, la incredulidad en Jesús y la misión” (Marcos 4:35 - 6:32). Anime a sus seres queridos a asistir a este estudio bíblico.

Cambio de horario de confesión: Los horarios de confesión de nuestra parroquia son los siguientes: sábados de 9am. a 9:30pm. y sábados de 3:15pm a 4:15pm. Por razones pastorales, trasladaremos las confesiones de los sábados por la mañana a las 10 a. m. - 10:45 a. m. Comenzamos este nuevo tiempo a partir del 1er domingo de Adviento (3 de diciembre de 2023). Por favor ayúdanos a correr la voz. Habrá confesiones disponibles durante la semana. Hay más oportunidades para confesarse en nuestra parroquia. Llame a la oficina parroquial al 908-454-0112 de lunes a viernes de 10 a 12 y de 3 a 4 pm.

Censo Parroquial: Hemos iniciado esta iniciativa. Habrá voluntarios que se comunicarán con usted por teléfono. Ayúdelos a actualizar cualquier información disponible para el bien de la parroquia. Como parroquia estamos obligados a darle a la diócesis el recuento correcto de cuántos feligreses tenemos. También nos ayuda a preparar y planificar nuestros asuntos diarios como el presupuesto y la planificación futura. También es importante actualizar nuestro censo parroquial en cuanto a entradas sacramentales, muertes y ausencias de personas por cambio de dirección, etc. Agradezco a todos los voluntarios por ser parte de esta importante obligación.

Hora Santa: Cada primer viernes de mes tenemos hora santa en inglés a las 6pm.

Gracias: Agradezco a la comunidad escolar por organizar la recaudación de fondos de Tricky Tray este año y a todos los voluntarios que han donado su tiempo y esfuerzos.
