Dear Family!

Reflection: This weekend the Universal Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. This marks the end of our Liturgical Year, and we welcome a New Liturgical year with the 1st Sunday of Advent. As Pope Benedict beautifully teaches us that Christ’s Kingship is not based on ‘human power’ but on loving and serving others. It reminds me of the wise saying of Carl Jung, “Where love rules, there is no will; and where power predominates, there love is lacking.”

Christ as King is seen in light of the Kingdom. The very first words of public ministry of Jesus are “The Kingdom of God is near!” The communal aspect is so constructive in nature that we are not seen as citizens ‘under’ Jesus, rather ‘with’ Jesus. Every Christian should be a proud initiator of common good. Christ can be King only if he as a Kingdom. Where is the Kingdom and where are His people and what are they known for?

Catechism (CCC 786) teaches us, “…For the Christian, "to reign is to serve him," particularly when serving "the poor and the suffering, in whom the Church recognizes the image of her poor and suffering founder." The People of God fulfills its royal dignity by a life in keeping with its vocation to serve with Christ.” What a great way to end the liturgical year!

Eucharistic Revival Seminar: My sincere thanks to all the volunteers of ’72 Disciples’ ministry. Our Eighth seminar will be on Dec 13th, 6:30pm starting in Mercy Hall. Fr. Gilbert Starcher will be presenting the seminar “Eucharist and the Effects of Holy Communion.” This is a great opportunity as we are the only lucky parish in the whole diocese to have regular community learning when it comes to monthly seminars and bible study. It would be a great opportunity to see Fr. Gilbert again and learn from him. I continue to encourage you to make an effort to be part of the community learning. It is crucial for the present and future of our faith and church that we learn and live our faith together.

Bible Study: We started our Bible Study on October 25th at 5pm in Mercy Hall with the Gospel According to St. Mark. We have scheduled 9 classes leading up to Christmas. We meet every Wednesdays at 5pm for an hour of learning. For Thanksgiving, we had to move the last class to November 21st, titled “Authority of Jesus, Unbelief in Jesus & the Mission” (Mark 4:35 - 6:32). Please encourage your loved ones to attend this Bible Study. Our next session will be on November 29th at 5pm in Mercy Hall. The topic is ‘Miracles in the Gospel of Mark’ (6:33 - 8:26).

Confession Time Change: Our parish Confession times are as follows: Saturdays 9am to 9:30am and Saturdays 3:15pm to 4:15pm. For pastoral reasons, we are only moving the Saturday Morning confessions to 10am - 10:45am. We begin this new time from the 1st Sunday of Advent (December 3rd, 2023). Please help us to spread the word. There will be confessions available during the week. There are more opportunities to go to confessions at our parish. Please call the parish office 908-454-0112 Monday to Friday 10am-12pm, and 3pm-4pm.

Finance Council Meet with Parishioners: We have been in regular talks with the diocese to find ways to better our finances. We have made some improvements in saving but there is a long road ahead of us in this regard. We have published our finances with the parish recently. We would like to do a follow up on that report. On December 10th, after the 9am mass and 11am mass we are inviting you to Mercy Hall and meet our Finance Council for more information and answers for your questions. It is important that the parish is aware of where we are at present and where we would like to go from here. Please join us!

Prayer Requests: I request you to pray for the Parish Census initiative. We are grateful for all the volunteers who are involved in this and with your support and cooperation we can get this done soon. Also, I request you to remember our School and all the initiatives of our school in reaching out to better our enrollment. Please encourage young parents to enroll their children in our school. Your prayers and support are crucial for our parish community.

NOTICIAS EN ESPAÑOL

¡Querida familia!

Reflexión: Este fin de semana la Iglesia Universal celebra la Solemnidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo. Esto marca el final de nuestro Año Litúrgico y damos la bienvenida a un Nuevo Año Litúrgico con el 1er Domingo de Adviento. Como nos enseña bellamente el Papa Benedicto, el reinado de Cristo no se basa en el "poder humano" sino en amar y servir a los demás. Me recuerda el sabio dicho de Carl Jung: “Donde manda el amor, no hay voluntad; y donde predomina el poder falta el amor”.

Cristo como Rey es visto a la luz del Reino. Las primeras palabras del ministerio público de Jesús son "¡El Reino de Dios está cerca!" El aspecto comunitario es de naturaleza tan constructiva que no somos vistos como ciudadanos “bajo” Jesús, sino más bien “con” Jesús. Todo cristiano debe ser un orgulloso iniciador del bien común. Cristo puede ser Rey sólo si es un Reino. ¿Dónde está el Reino y dónde está Su pueblo y por qué son conocidos?

El Catecismo (CCC786) nos enseña: “…Para el cristiano, "reinar es servirle", particularmente cuando se sirve "a los pobres y a los que sufren, en quienes la Iglesia reconoce la imagen de su fundador pobre y sufriente". El Pueblo de Dios cumple su dignidad real con una vida acorde a su vocación de servir con Cristo”. ¡Qué gran manera de terminar el año litúrgico!

Charla de Avivamiento Eucarístico: Mi más sincero agradecimiento a todos los voluntarios del ministerio '72 Discípulos'. Nuestro octavo seminario será el 13 de diciembre a las 6:30 p.m. P. Gilbert Starcher presentará el seminario “La Eucaristía y los efectos de la Sagrada Comunión”. Esta es una gran oportunidad ya que somos la única parroquia afortunada en toda la diócesis que tiene aprendizaje comunitario regular en lo que respecta a seminarios mensuales y estudio bíblico. Sería una gran oportunidad para conocer al P. Gilbert nuevamente y aprender de él. Sigo animándote a que hagas un esfuerzo por ser parte de la comunidad de aprendizaje. Es crucial para el presente y el futuro de nuestra fe y de nuestra iglesia que aprendamos y vivamos nuestra fe juntos.

Estudio Bíblico: Comenzamos nuestro Estudio Bíblico el 25 de octubre a las 5pm en Mercy Hall con el Evangelio Según San Marcos. Hemos programado 9 clases previas a Navidad. Nos reunimos todos los miércoles a las 5 p.m. para una hora de aprendizaje. Para el Día de Acción de Gracias, tuvimos que trasladar la última clase al 21 de noviembre, titulada “La autoridad de Jesús, la incredulidad en Jesús y la misión” (Marcos 4:35 - 6:32). Anime a sus seres queridos a asistir a este estudio bíblico. Nuestra próxima sesión será el 29 de noviembre a las 5 p.m. en Mercy Hall. El tema es "Milagros en el Evangelio de Marcos" (6:33 - 8:26).

Cambio de horario de confesión: Los horarios de confesión de nuestra parroquia son los siguientes: sábados de 9 am a 9:30pm y sábados de 3:15pm a 4:15pm. Por razones pastorales, trasladaremos las confesiones de los sábados por la mañana a las 10a m - 10:45am. Comenzamos este nuevo tiempo a partir del 1er domingo de Adviento (3 de diciembre de 2023). Por favor ayúdanos a correr la voz. Habrá confesiones disponibles durante la semana. Hay más oportunidades para confesarse en nuestra parroquia. Llame a la oficina parroquial al 908-454- 0112 de lunes a viernes de 10am a 12pm y de 3 a 4 pm.

Reunión del Consejo de Finanzas con los feligreses: Hemos estado en conversaciones periódicas con la diócesis para encontrar formas de mejorar nuestras finanzas. Hemos logrado algunas mejoras en materia de ahorro, pero aún queda un largo camino por recorrer en este sentido. Recientemente hemos publicado nuestras finanzas con la parroquia. Nos gustaría hacer un seguimiento de ese informe. El 10 de diciembre, después de la misa de las 9 a. m. y de las 11 a. m., lo invitamos a Mercy Hall y se reunirá con nuestro Consejo de Finanzas para obtener más información y respuestas a sus preguntas. Es importante que la parroquia sea consciente de dónde nos encontramos actualmente y hacia dónde nos gustaría ir a partir de ahora. ¡Por favor únete a nosotros!

Peticiones de Oración: Les pido que oren por la iniciativa del Censo Parroquial. Estamos agradecidos por todos los voluntarios que participan en esto y con su apoyo y cooperación podremos lograrlo pronto. Además, les pido que recuerden nuestra Escuela y todas las iniciativas de nuestra escuela para mejorar nuestra matrícula. Anime a los padres jóvenes a inscribir a sus hijos en nuestra escuela. Sus oraciones y apoyo son cruciales para nuestra comunidad parroquial.
