Dear Family!

Reflection: There is no better ‘Good News’ than the advent of Our Lord Jesus Christ! Happy Advent to all of you! The greatest treasure of Advent is Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Vestments and decorations are expressed in purple for the season as the theme point to ‘Staying awake’. The way to stay awake is through penance, preparation and sacrifice. Also, it is important to distance ourselves from flashy decorations and nostalgic carols that can take us away from this ‘preparation’ - to focus our minds and hearts on getting our hearts ready for the ‘Child Jesus’.

Today is also the first day of the new Liturgical Year (B). “The annual cycle invites us to live the Christian mysteries more deeply, to let Christ-life seep into our very bones, and in so doing to transform and renew all human endeavors, all human culture” (Catholic Culture). Advent is the beginning of this experience of Christ-filled life. The four-week season continues to experience the mounting expectation for the coming of Christ through due preparation that are marked by a spirit of waiting, conversion and hope.

We need to closely walk with our Mother, as the Catechism teaches us, “Holy Mary, Mother of God: With Elizabeth we marvel, "And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” Because she gives us Jesus, her son, Mary is Mother of God and our mother; we can entrust all our cares and petitions to her: she prays for us as she prayed for herself: "Let it be to me according to your word.” By entrusting ourselves to her prayer, we abandon ourselves to the will of God together with her: "Thy will be done.” (2677).

Eucharistic Revival Seminar: My sincere thanks to all the volunteers of ’72 Disciples’ ministry. Our Eighth seminar will be on Dec 13TH, 6:30pm. Fr. Gilbert Starcher will be presenting the seminar “Eucharist and the Effects of Holy Communion.” This is a great opportunity as we are the only lucky parish in the whole diocese to have regular community learning when it comes to monthly seminars and bible study.

It would be a great opportunity to see Fr. Gilbert again and learn from him. I continue to encourage you to make an effort to be part of the community learning. It is crucial for the present and future of our faith and church that we learn and live our faith together.

Bible Study: Every Wednesdays at 5pm in Mercy Hall. All are welcome! November 29th, we learned “Authority of Jesus, Unbelief in Jesus & the Mission” (Mark 4:35 - 6:32). Next class will be on December 6th at 5pm in Mercy Hall. The topic is ‘Miracles in the Gospel of Mark’ (6:33 - 8:26). Please join us!

Confession Time Change: From December 3rd, we begin the new schedule for confession: the Saturday Morning confessions to 10am - 10:45am. Please help us to spread the word. There will be confessions available also during the week. Please call the parish office 908-454-0112 Monday to Friday 10-12, and 3-4pm. Finance Council Meet with Parishioners: We have published our finance statements recently. We would like to do a follow up on that report. On December 10th, after the 9am mass and 11am mass we are inviting you to Mercy Hall and meet our Finance Council for more information and answers for your questions. Please join us!

Prayer Requests: I request you to pray for the Parish Census initiative. We are grateful for all the volunteers who are involved in this and with your support and cooperation we can get this done soon. Also there have been a few meetings with the Diocese to improve the enrollment and finances of the School. There is an important meeting organized by our Bishop on the 14th of December with all the pastors of our county.

NOTICIAS EN ESPAÑOL

¡Querida familia!

Reflexión: ¡No hay mejor ‘Buena Nueva’ que el advenimiento de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo! ¡Feliz Adviento a todos ustedes! El mayor tesoro del Adviento es Nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. Las vestimentas y decoraciones se expresan en púrpura para la temporada como tema que apunta a "Permanecer despierto". La manera de permanecer despiertos es a través de la penitencia, la preparación y el sacrificio. Además, es importante distanciarnos de decoraciones llamativas y cánticos nostálgicos que pueden alejarnos de esta "preparación", para centrar nuestra mente y nuestro corazón en preparar nuestro corazón para el "Niño Jesús".

Hoy es también el primer día del nuevo Año Litúrgico (B). “El ciclo anual nos invita a vivir más profundamente los misterios cristianos, a dejar que la vida de Cristo penetre en nuestros huesos y, al hacerlo, transformar y renovar todos los esfuerzos humanos, toda la cultura humana” (Cultura Católica). El Adviento es el comienzo de esta experiencia de vida llena de Cristo. El tiempo de cuatro semanas continúa experimentando la creciente expectativa por la venida de Cristo a través de la debida preparación, marcada por un espíritu de espera, conversión y esperanza.

Necesitamos caminar estrechamente con nuestra Madre, como nos enseña el Catecismo: “Santa María, Madre de Dios: Con Isabel nos maravillamos: "¿Y por qué me es concedido que la madre de mi Señor venga a mí?" Porque ella nos da a Jesús, su hijo, María es Madre de Dios y madre nuestra; a ella podemos encomendar todas nuestras preocupaciones y peticiones: ella ora por nosotros como oró por sí misma: "Hágase en mí según tu palabra. " Al confiarnos a su oración, nos abandonamos junto con ella a la voluntad de Dios: "Hágase tu voluntad". (2677).

Charla de Avivamiento Eucarístico: Mi más sincero agradecimiento a todos los voluntarios del ministerio '72 Discípulos'. Nuestro octavo charla será el 13 de diciembre a las 6:30pm P. Gilbert Starcher presentará la charla “La Eucaristía y los efectos de la Sagrada Comunión”.

Esta es una gran oportunidad ya que somos la única parroquia afortunada en toda la diócesis que tiene aprendizaje comunitario regular en lo que respecta a seminarios mensuales y estudio bíblico. Sería una gran oportunidad para ver al P. Gilbert nuevamente y aprender de él. Sigo animándote a que hagas un esfuerzo por ser parte de la comunidad de aprendizaje. Es crucial para el presente y el futuro de nuestra fe y de nuestra iglesia que aprendamos y vivamos nuestra fe juntos.

Estudio Bíblico: Todos los miércoles a las 5pm en Mercy Hall. ¡Todos son bienvenidos! El 29 de noviembre aprendimos “La autoridad de Jesús, la incredulidad en Jesús y la misión” (Marcos 4:35 - 6:32). La próxima clase será el 6 de diciembre a las 5 p.m. en Mercy Hall. El tema es "Milagros en el Evangelio de Marcos" (6:33 - 8:26). ¡Por favor únete a nosotros!

Cambio de horario de confesión: a partir del 3 de diciembre, comenzamos el nuevo horario de confesión: las confesiones del sábado por la mañana de 10 am a 10:45 am. Por favor ayúdanos a correr la voz. Habrá confesiones disponibles también durante la semana. Llame a la oficina parroquial al 908-454-0112 de lunes a viernes de 10am a 12pm y de 3 a 4pm.

Reunión del Consejo de Finanzas con los feligreses: Hemos publicado nuestros estados financieros recientemente. Nos gustaría hacer un seguimiento de ese informe. El 10 de diciembre, después de la misa de las 9am y de las 11am, lo invitamos a Mercy Hall y se reunirá con nuestro Consejo de Finanzas para obtener más información y respuestas a sus preguntas. ¡Por favor únete a nosotros!

Peticiones de Oración: Les pido que oren por la iniciativa del Censo Parroquial. Estamos agradecidos por todos los voluntarios que participan en esto y con su apoyo y cooperación podremos lograrlo pronto. También ha habido algunas reuniones con la Diócesis para mejorar la matrícula y las finanzas del Colegio. Hay una reunión importante organizada por nuestro Obispo el día 14 de diciembre con todos los pastores de nuestro condado.
