The Epiphany of the Lord

Dear Family!

It was wonderful to start the year with the celebration of the feast of the Motherhood of Our Lady. May the blessings of our Lady be upon us throughout the year. As part of the Christmas Season, we celebrate the feast of Epiphany today. The word ‘Epiphany ’ means ‘to appear or shine’. Epiphany refers to the divinity of Jesus ‘shining upon ’the earth. Epiphany refers the manifestation of the Divine Nature of Jesus.

As the beginning of the Letter to the Hebrews reflects about the revelation of God in and through Jesus Christ, it is so awesome to reflect about how we witness and experience the revelation of God. The readings for today’s celebration focus on the Universal Royal Messiahship of Jesus Christ. The United States and Canada celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany on the Sunday after the Christmas Octave; therefore, it always falls between January 2nd and 8th. However, other countries celebrate the Solemnity on the ancient traditional date of January 6th.

The Magi reminded us of the community and diversity aspects of the powerful experience of the revelation of God. The universal and catholic nature of the church reflect this powerful Epiphany everyday through the Sacrament of Eucharist.

As Epiphany teaches us where to look for Jesus, the King of kings, Lord of lords (in the most humble and poorest), it also teaches us where not to look for Jesus - Herod. Herod not only symbolizes our envy, jealousy and anger, but also the “close yet very far” approach to our spiritual life and Christian Life.

We are all in need of the Star!

Thank you: I thank all of you for your participation in Christmas and New Year festivities. Since we have three priests we were able to provide as many masses as needed to have a meaningful celebrations, given the fact that both the Christmas Weekend and New Year Weekend were back-to-back celebrations.

I thank Fr. Wilson and Fr. Pat for their ministry and all the deacons for their service to our community and church. The Choir did a great job in providing us with wonderful music for our celebrations. I thank Lisa Sforza and all the musicians and singers for their part. A special thanks to the Decorations Committee headed by Diane Volk and the volunteers for the beautiful flowers and lights. We also thank all the ministries working together at mass, all the lectors, eucharistic ministers, altar servers, ushers and other volunteers to make these festivities special for us.

Eucharistic Revival Seminar: As we journey with our ’72 Disciples’ ministry, I continue to encourage community learning as it is indispensable for our faith. The next seminar will be on January 10th, 6:30pm. The Vicar General Fr. Jay Tabrowski will be our next presenter. Please come with your family!

Bible Study: All are welcome! Our last Bible Study was on Jan 3rd, 5pm in Mercy Hall. We were learning “On the Way of Discipleship (8:27 - 10:52). The last session will be on the 10th of January. Please join us! This will immensely help you with your Sunday Mass experience as Year B reflects on Mark. Please stay tuned for the next BibNew Employees: le Study on the Acts of the Apostles. Details will follow.

We have hired a new Maintenance person for our School, Janusz Cichowski, and a part-time janitorial support Collette Clothilda for the school along with Rosanna Caprio our regular support staff at the School. We also hired a new Maintenance person Steve Webber for our Cemetery and Lawn Care. We hope and pray all our properties are well taken care off by our staff and wish them well!

Epifanía del Señor

¡Querida familia!

Fue maravilloso comenzar el año con la celebración de la fiesta de la Maternidad de Nuestra Señora. Que las bendiciones de Nuestra Señora estén sobre nosotros durante todo el año. Como parte de la temporada navideña, hoy celebramos la fiesta de la Epifanía. La palabra "Epifanía" significa "aparecer o brillar". La epifanía se refiere a la divinidad de Jesús "brillando sobre" la tierra. La Epifanía se refiere a la manifestación de la Naturaleza Divina de Jesús.

Así como el comienzo de la Carta a los Hebreos reflexiona sobre la revelación de Dios en y a través de Jesucristo, es maravilloso reflexionar sobre cómo presenciamos y experimentamos la revelación de Dios. Las lecturas para la celebración de hoy se centran en el Mesianismo Real Universal de Jesucristo. Los Estados Unidos y Canadá celebran la Solemnidad de la Epifanía el domingo posterior a la Octava de Navidad; por lo tanto, siempre cae entre el 2 y el 8 de enero. Sin embargo, otros países celebran la Solemnidad en la antigua fecha tradicional del 6 de enero.

Los Reyes Magos nos recordaron los aspectos comunitarios y de diversidad de la poderosa experiencia de la revelación de Dios. La naturaleza universal y católica de la iglesia refleja esta poderosa Epifanía todos los días a través del Sacramento de la Eucaristía.

Así como la Epifanía nos enseña dónde buscar a Jesús, el Rey de reyes, Señor de señores (en los más humildes y pobres), también nos enseña dónde no buscar a Jesús - Herodes. Herodes no sólo simboliza nuestra envidia, celos e ira, sino también el acercamiento “cercano pero muy lejano” a nuestra vida espiritual y vida cristiana.

Gracias: Agradezco a todos ustedes por su participación en las festividades de Navidad y Año Nuevo. Como tenemos tres sacerdotes, pudimos ofrecer las misas necesario para tener celebraciones significativas, dado que tanto el fin de semana de Navidad como el fin de semana de Año Nuevo fueron celebraciones consecutivas. Agradezco al P. Wilson y el P. Pat por su ministerio y a todos los diáconos por su servicio a nuestra comunidad e iglesia. El Coro hizo un gran trabajo brindándonos música maravillosa para nuestras celebraciones. Agradezco a Lisa Sforza y a todos los músicos y cantantes por su parte. Un agradecimiento especial al Comité de Decoraciones encabezado por Diane Volk y a los voluntarios por las hermosas flores y luces. También agradecemos a todos los ministerios que trabajan juntos en la misa, a todos los lectores, ministros eucarísticos, monaguillos, ujieres y otros voluntarios para hacer que estas festividades sean especiales para nosotros.

Charla de Avivamiento Eucarístico: A medida que avanzamos con nuestro ministerio de los 72 Discípulos, sigo fomentando el aprendizaje comunitario, ya que es indispensable para nuestra fe. Estudio Bíblico: ¡Todos son bienvenidos! Nuestro último estudio bíblico fue el 3 de enero a las 5 pm en Mercy Hall. Estábamos aprendiendo “Sobre el camino del discipulado (8:27 - 10:52). La última sesión será el 10 de enero. ¡Por favor únase a nosotros! Esto los ayudará enormemente con tu experiencia en la Misa dominical mientras el Año B reflexiona sobre Marcos. Estén atentos al próximo Estudio Bíblico sobre los Hechos de los Apóstoles. Habrá más detalles.

Nuevos empleados: Hemos contratado a una nueva persona de mantenimiento para nuestra escuela, Janusz Cichowski, y a una empleada de limpieza a tiempo parcial, Collette Clothilda, para la escuela junto con Rosanna Caprio, nuestro personal de apoyo habitual en la escuela. También contratamos a una nueva persona de mantenimiento, Steve Webber, para nuestro cementerio y cuidado del césped. ¡Esperamos y rezamos para que nuestro personal cuide bien todas nuestras propiedades y les deseamos lo mejor!
