Getting Married at St. Philip and St. James Church

All parishioners, adult children of parishioners, and other Catholics who have reason to wish to be married here are welcome to celebrate their marriage at St. Philip and St. James Church - provided they are free to marry in the Catholic Church.  The following frequently asked questions may be helpful.

How do I schedule a date for my wedding?

Please contact the parish office to arrange a date for your wedding.  They will take some basic information, including the date you have in mind, and forward it to our pastor.  A priest or deacon will be in touch with you within a day or so to arrange a first meeting with you and begin the process.

When can weddings be celebrated at St. Philip and St. James Church?

Weddings are usually scheduled on Saturdays no earlier than 11:30am and no later 2:00pm.  Weddings can be scheduled on Friday afternoons or evenings (except on the Fridays of Lent, due to Stations of the Cross).  Weddings may not be scheduled on Holy Saturday, Good Friday, or certain Holy Days.

Please note that, while the parish secretary can tell you that a specific date is available, it is not set until we can be sure that one of our priests or deacons is likewise available for the wedding.  Once your date is set, the secretary will mail you a letter confirming the date and time.

May I request a specific priest or deacon for my wedding?

Of course.  We always make every effort to match up a couple with the priest or deacon of their choice.

What if the priest I want is from another parish?

As long as he is a priest (or deacon) in good standing and is willing to perform your wedding, he is welcome at St. Philip and St. James Church.  Speak to our pastor and he will help your visiting priest or deacon make the necessary arrangements.

What if I have more questions that are not covered here?

You probably have a lot of questions which cannot be covered here.  The priest or deacon who meets with you will answer all of them and help you plan a beautiful and prayerful Wedding Mass or Ceremony.
