The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

Dear Family!

Happy Trinity Sunday to all of you! The Doctrine of Trinity is called a ‘mystery’ because this truth can never been known by reason alone. Only God can reveal the truth to us (CCC 261). The Doctrine of Trinity is not unique to Christianity: it transcends all religion and is a key ingredient of universal life and culture (Diarmuid Murchu). The Trimoorthy of Hinduism, the Buddhist doctrine of the three bodies, the Zoroastrian triplicate of Zurvan, the Egyptian cult of Isis, Seraphis and the divine child Horus and some thirty thousand years of traditional Trinitarian worship in the prehistoric times all point to the same One God seen in three persons.

We all possess a certain ‘nature’ when we say, ‘it’s my nature.’ A person can possess a nature and not the other way around. ‘Person’ and ‘nature’ answer two different questions. ‘What is it?’ – NATURE. ‘Who is it?’ – PERSON. Further, we all can understand that our nature decides what is possible for us as persons. I the person; nature is the source of our operations (F J Sheed). The same is applied to the Trinity. What we should be careful here is that first these three persons don’t share the divine nature 33.333, second, they are distinct but not separate.

The doctrine can only make sense if it is understood in terms of Love and not in terms of administration. It is not about fixing rather loving. “The ancient wisdom that we share is everything is created out of relatedness, sustained through relationships and thrives on interdependence.” If God is love, God teaches us what love is all about; what relationships are all about and what inter-dependence is all about! Thus, we turn to the Trinity for all those answers. Trinity is all about love and unity in fullness.

At all masses, after communion we will be praying the St. Thomas Aquinas prayer as recommended by our Bishop (Please see the back of the Bulletin). This is part of the preparation for the Eucharistic Revival and beyond. You will also find the Prayer for the Synod. Please use it for your personal prayer.

I request your prayers for all our 8th grade students. There will be a special Graduation Mass for them and their families tomorrow at 7pm. You are most welcome to join the parish community in praying for them. Our prayers are with all our children and teachers as they break for summer.

My sincere thanks to all of you for your generous contribution to the Bishop’s appeal. We have received pledges of $65,000 so far for our goal of $78,000. You have made it a great success this year as we are getting closer to our goal. The total number of participating families is still at 260 out of 2400 families in our parish community. I respectfully remind you again that the number of gifts is the goal rather than how big the gifts are.

The two ongoing renovations where your generous contribution to the Pastor’s Appeal is being spent are: replacing & installing new fire doors at the office building next to the church (Second and Third Floors) and replacing & installing a new Fire Alarm System at the School. My sincere thanks to you for funding these projects and the buildings & Grounds Committee for their guidance. Please pray for these projects.

SANTÍSIMA TRINIDAD

¡Querida Familia!

¡Feliz Domingo de la Trinidad para todos! La Doctrina de la Trinidad se llama un "misterio" porque esta verdad nunca puede ser conocida solo por la razón. Sólo Dios puede revelarnos la verdad (CIC 261). La Doctrina de la Trinidad no es exclusiva del cristianismo: trasciende toda religión y es un ingrediente clave de la vida y la cultura universales (Diarmuid Murchu). El Trimoorthy del hinduismo, la doctrina budista de los tres cuerpos, el triplicado zoroastriano de Zurvan, el culto egipcio de Isis, Seraphis y el niño divino Horus y unos treinta mil años de adoración trinitaria tradicional en los tiempos prehistóricos, todos apuntan al mismo Uno. Dios visto en tres personas.

Todos poseemos cierta ‘naturaleza’ cuando decimos ‘es mi naturaleza’. Una persona puede poseer una naturaleza y no al revés. 'Persona' y 'naturaleza' responden a dos preguntas diferentes. ‘¿Qué es?’ – NATURALEZA. ‘¿Quién es?’ – PERSONA. Además, todos podemos entender que nuestra naturaleza decide lo que es posible para nosotros como personas yo la persona; la naturaleza es la fuente de nuestras operaciones (F J Sheed). Lo mismo se aplica a la Trinidad. Lo que debemos tener cuidado aquí es que primero estas tres personas no comparten la naturaleza divina 33.333, y segundo son distintos pero no separados.

La doctrina sólo puede tener sentido si se la entiende en términos de Amor y no en términos de administración. No se trata de arreglar sino de amar. “La sabiduría antigua que compartimos es que todo se crea a partir de la relación, se sostiene a través de las relaciones y prospera en la interdependencia”. Si Dios es amor, Dios nos enseña de qué se trata el amor; ¡De qué se tratan las relaciones y de qué se trata la interdependencia! Por lo tanto, recurrimos a la Trinidad para todas esas respuestas. La Trinidad tiene que ver con el amor y la unidad en plenitud.

En todas las misas, después de la comunión rezaremos la oración de Santo Tomás de Aquino según lo recomendado por nuestro obispo (consulte el final del Boletín). Esto es parte de la preparación para el Avivamiento Eucarístico y más allá. También encontrarás la Oración por el Sínodo. Por favor, utilícelo para su oración personal.

Solicito sus oraciones por todos nuestros estudiantes de 8º grado. Habrá una Misa de Graduación especial para ellos y sus familias mañana a las 7pm. Le invitamos a unirse a la comunidad parroquial para orar por ellos. Nuestras oraciones están con todos nuestros niños y maestros en sus vacaciones de verano.

Mi más sincero agradecimiento a todos ustedes por su generosa contribución a la apelación del obispo. Hemos recibido promesas de $65,000 hasta ahora de nuestra meta de $78,000. Lo han hecho un gran éxito este año a medida que nos acercamos a nuestra meta. El número total de familias participantes todavía es de 260 de 2400 familias en nuestra comunidad parroquial. Respetuosamente les recuerdo nuevamente que la meta es el número de regalos en lugar de cuán grandes son los regalos.

Las dos renovaciones en curso en las que se gastará su generosa contribución a la Campaña del Pastor son: reemplazar e instalar nuevas puertas resistentes al fuego en el edificio de oficinas que queda alado de la iglesia (segundo y tercer piso) y reemplazar e instalar un nuevo sistema de alarma contra incendios en la escuela. Mi más sincero agradecimiento a usted por financiar estos proyectos y al Comité de edificios y terrenos por su orientación. Por favor oren por estos proyectos.
