Sixth Sunday of Easter

Dear Family!

As we are getting closer to the end of the Easter Season, on the 6th Sunday of Easter we continue to hear Jesus echo his message from the 5th Sunday’s Gospel ‘To remain in him’. We won’t get to hear the 6th Sunday’s Gospel instead we will pray with the Gospel of the 7th Sunday of Easter as our rubrics explain: Where the Ascension is transferred to Sunday, 12th May, the second reading and Gospel of the Seventh Sunday of Easter may be read on the Sixth Sunday of Easter.

As you may know, our diocese has moved the Solemnity of Ascension from Thursday of the Sixth Week of Easter to the Seventh Sunday of Easter permanently since 2022, we hear one of the most cherished prayers of Jesus for his Apostles.

Jesus’ prayer in today’s gospel is vital to the holiness of the church. Every expression in this prayer is about Oneness, holiness and commitment to love and serve modeling on the same pattern of the unity in Godhead. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that Charity is the soul of the holiness to which all are called. Charity governs shapes and perfects all the means of sanctification. When we are ready to love, we live to be holy. Love is not just an emotion but a constant attempt to reach perfection, to glorify God and purify our intentions. Most of our expressions are seen in all that we do and say and all that we fail to do and say.

Next Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension. We also celebrate Mothers’ day. May is the month dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. Pope Francis in his Letter on the Month of May wrote, “I want to encourage everyone to rediscover the beauty of praying the Rosary at home in the month of May. This can be done either as a group or individually. As the readings focus on Jesus’ commandment of love, praying for one another is a great expression of love. I request you to include a special prayer for our Bishop on his anniversary of his episcopal ordination (May 3rd).

Sincere thanks to the parents & the Faith Formation Ministry: It was a memorable mass for all of us especially for our children who received their First Holy Communion and their families. I thank all the Faith Formation Ministry (Mrs. Escarlen Duran and the teachers), clergy, choir, servers, ushers, decoration ministry and all parishioners who could participate and pray for our children. As something beautiful began in our children, it is the duty of our community to nurture it - parents taking full responsibility to bring them for mass regularly and praying with them. Special thanks to Diane Volk for preparing the children - they all have learned their prayers well. I am so proud of our children! Thank you parents for your encouragement!

Bible Study on The Acts of the Apostles: All are welcome! As you probably know it takes hours of preparation to put together the Bible Study. I thank all of those who have signed up for these studies. Every Thursday at 1:30pm in Mercy Hall we gather to study the scripture. It is never too late to join the study. Every time you participate you will appreciate the rich treasures of the Wisdom of the Word of God.

Eucharistic Renewal: I thank Monsignor John Gordon for the April Seminar on the Eucharist. The March Seminar touched upon important questions people may have and would like to learn the Church’s answers to those important questions. People who have attended expressed to me to have more of such sessions. We will have a continuation of this session on Wednesday, May 8th, at 6:30pm. Please join the community!

Faith & Service Dinner: As we continue to thank Fr. Pat and Kevin and Kelly Perna for accepting this year’s Fatih & Service awards, we express our sincere thanks to Bill Casey and Margie Markus and all the volunteers who organized the whole dinner! We thank them for the dedication and service to our parish and school! Thank you to all of you, we had a record number this year! Thank you for your generosity!

Our Prayers for RCIA Candidates: Please remember all the candidates who have received their sacraments at Easter Vigil.

Ordinary Maintenance Projects: Our chapel renovation will be starting soon as we are working to get schedule ready to relocate adoration opportunities for parishioners. I thank all the volunteers who continue to care for our facilities. Skilled people such as painters, electricians, plumbers and carpenters are all welcomed to volunteer in these projects.

Sexto domingo de Pascua

¡Querida familia!

A medida que nos acercamos al final del tiempo pascual, en el sexto domingo de Pascua seguimos escuchando a Jesús hacer eco de su mensaje del Evangelio del quinto domingo: "Permanecer en él". No vamos a escuchar el Evangelio del sexto domingo, sino que oraremos con el Evangelio del séptimo domingo de Pascua como explican nuestras rúbricas: Cuando se transfiere la Ascensión al domingo 12 de mayo, la segunda lectura y el Evangelio del séptimo domingo de La Pascua se puede leer el sexto domingo de Pascua. Como sabrán, nuestra diócesis ha trasladado la Solemnidad de la Ascensión del jueves de la Sexta Semana de Pascua al Séptimo Domingo de Pascua de forma permanente desde el año 2022, escuchamos una de las oraciones más preciadas de Jesús a sus Apóstoles.

La oración de Jesús en el evangelio de hoy es vital para la santidad de la iglesia. Cada expresión en esta oración trata sobre la Unidad, la santidad y el compromiso de amar y servir siguiendo el mismo patrón de la unidad en Dios. El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica nos enseña que la Caridad es el alma de la santidad a la que todos estamos llamados. La caridad gobierna, configura y perfecciona todos los medios de santificación.

Cuando estamos dispuestos a amar, vivimos para ser santos. El amor no es sólo una emoción sino un intento constante de alcanzar la perfección, de glorificar a Dios y purificar nuestras intenciones. La mayoría de nuestras expresiones se ven en todo lo que hacemos y decimos y en todo lo que dejamos de hacer y decir.

El próximo domingo celebramos la Solemnidad de la Ascensión. También celebramos el día de las Madres. Mayo es el mes dedicado a Nuestra Santísima Madre. El Papa Francisco en su carta sobre el mes de mayo escribió: “Quiero animar a todos a redescubrir la belleza de rezar el Rosario en casa en el mes de mayo. Esto se puede hacer ya sea en grupo o individualmente. Como las lecturas se centran en el mandamiento de amor de Jesús, orar unos por otros es una gran expresión de amor. Les solicito incluir una oración especial por nuestro Obispo en su aniversario de ordenación episcopal (3 de mayo).

Un sincero agradecimiento a los padres y al Ministerio de Formación de Fe: Agradezco a todo el Ministerio de Formación de Fe (Sra. Escarlen Durán y los maestros), clero, coro, servidores, ujieres, ministerio de decoración y a todos los feligreses que pudieron participar y orar por nuestros niños. Así como algo hermoso comenzó en nuestros hijos, es deber de nuestra comunidad nutrirlo: los padres asumen toda la responsabilidad de llevarlos a misa con regularidad y orar con ellos. Un agradecimiento especial a Diane Volk por preparar a los niños; todos han aprendido bien las oraciones. ¡Estoy muy orgullosa de nuestros hijos! ¡Gracias, padres por su ánimo!

Estudio Bíblico sobre Los Hechos de los Apóstoles: ¡Todos son bienvenidos! Como probablemente sepa, se necesitan horas de preparación para preparar el estudio bíblico. Agradezco a todos los que se han apuntado a estos estudios. Todos los jueves a la 1:30 pm en Mercy Hall nos reunimos para estudiar las Escrituras. Nunca es demasiado tarde para unirse al estudio. Cada vez que participes apreciarás los ricos tesoros de la Sabiduría de la Palabra de Dios.

Avivamiento Eucarístico: Agradezco a Monseñor John Gordon por su charla sobre la Eucaristía de abril. La charla de marzo abordó preguntas importantes que las personas pueden tener y les gustaría conocer las respuestas de la Iglesia a esas preguntas importantes. Algunas personas que han asistido me expresaron que tendrían más sesiones de este tipo. Tendremos una continuación de esta sesión el miércoles 8 de mayo a comenzando a las 6:30 pm en Mercy Hall y la charla a 7 pm en la iglesia. ¡Únase a la comunidad!

Cena de Fe y Servicio: Mientras continuamos agradeciendo al P. Pat, Kevin y Kelly Perna por aceptar los premios “Fatih & Service” de este año. ¡Expresamos nuestro más sincero agradecimiento a Bill Casey y Margie Markus y a todos los voluntarios que organizaron toda la cena! ¡Les agradecemos la dedicación y el servicio a nuestra parroquia y escuela! ¡Gracias a todos ustedes, tuvimos un número récord este año! ¡Gracias por tu generosidad!

Proyectos de mantenimiento: la renovación de nuestra capilla comenzará tan pronto que se para prepare un cronograma para reubicar las oportunidades de adoración para los feligreses. Agradezco a todos los voluntarios que siguen cuidando nuestras instalaciones. Personas cualificadas como pintores, electricistas, fontaneros y carpinteros son bienvenidas como voluntarias para estos proyectos.
