Dear Family!

A wise priest once said, “when man stands before the throne of God... all joy is restored, then there is nothing else for him to offer but to give thanks. Hence, the Eucharist or “thanksgiving” is the state of the perfect man. The Eucharist is the life of Paradise.” Happy ‘Corpus Christi’ Sunday to all of you!

The Eucharist is the only thing that draws us all to the church - it is rightly called the Source and Summit. 2nd Vatican taught us that Christ is revealed in the Eucharist. It is the power of the other that helps us to build the church in the Name of Jesus. We are never to imagine Christ acting as an isolated individual; the church is always associated with him, in other words ‘clustered around him’. We see the close bond between the Church and the Eucharist. Pope Benedict taught that the Church is the celebration of the Eucharist; the Eucharist is the Church; they do not simply stand side by side; they are one and the same; it is from there that everything else radiates.

Eucharist is understood also as one of various activities and might be called into service for the greater good of what the Church is and wishes to do such as promoting inclusivity, diversity, multiculturalism, church growth, social justice etc. As Ralph McMichael puts it, “Rather than viewing the Eucharist as something the Church does, we could approach the Church from the Eucharist. The Eucharist is the event of the Church; the Church is the event of the Eucharist.” May Jesus in the Holy Sacrament be praised; adored and loved. May the Church be moved to serve the Kingdom in Jesus’ Name.

Chapel Renovation: My sincere thanks to Michael Michnej and the generosity of his family that this project was completed in time. We also thank our donors for this project. We have completed this important project completely, through donations and volunteers. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Eight Grade Graduation: Our 8th graders spent their last day at SSPJ school on the 31st of May and their graduation is at a special mass on June 3rd at 7:00pm. I invite all of you to come and wish our children as they graduate and move on to their next phase in life. Our SSPJ school has their monthly mass that parents and grandparents can participate. Our next school mass is on June 4th at 10:00am. The Pre K and Kindergarten graduations are scheduled on June 5th. Please visit the SSPJ school website for more information.

Priestly Ordination at the Diocese: On Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 10:30am at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, Metuchen, Bishop Checchio will ordain our 5 transitional Deacons (Deacons Randy Gamboa Espinoza, Joseph Ho, Larrydom Magdasoc, Dawid Malik, and Peter Phan) for service as Priests in our diocese. Please pray for them as we welcome them into our presbyterate.

Bible Study on The Acts of the Apostles: All are welcome! As you probably know that it takes hours of preparation to put together the Bible Study. I thank all of those who have signed up for these studies. Every Thursday at 1:30pm in Mercy Hall we gather to study the scripture. Our bible study will complete Acts of the Apostles on June 20th and after the summer break will resume with an Old Testament book. Please see the bulletin for updates.

Eucharistic Renewal: Our next Eucharistic Revival Seminar will be on Wednesday, June 12th at 6:30pm. We will continue our Q & A session on Church Teachings about the Eucharist this month. I continue to encourage you to be part of this important community learning.

Garden Ministry: If you would like to join me in growing vegetables at the Rectory garden so the vegetables can be shared with the soup kitchen on Saturdays, please call the office. You are most welcome to be part of this important ministry. We are flexible with time, open to creativity, and believe in teamwork.

Bishop’s Appeal: My sincere thanks to all of you for supporting our Bishop’s annual appeal 2024. So far we have pledged $52,417 which is 67% of our goal ($78,000). Thank you for your generosity. I strongly encourage you to support our Bishop and all the people who are going to be benefitting from this appeal.

Santísimo Cuerpo Y Sangre De Cristo

¡Querida familia!

Un sabio sacerdote dijo una vez: “cuando el hombre se presenta ante el trono de Dios... todo gozo es restaurado, entonces no le queda nada más que ofrecer que dar gracias. Por tanto, la Eucaristía o “acción de gracias” es el estado del hombre perfecto. La Eucaristía es la vida del Paraíso”. ¡Feliz domingo de “Corpus Christi” a todos ustedes!

La Eucaristía es lo único que nos atrae a todos a la iglesia; con razón se la llama Fuente y Cumbre. El Vaticano II nos enseñó que Cristo se revela en la Eucaristía. Es el poder del otro el que nos ayuda a construir la iglesia en el Nombre de Jesús. Nunca debemos imaginar a Cristo actuando como un individuo aislado; la iglesia siempre está asociada con él, en otras palabras, “agrupada a su alrededor”. Vemos el estrecho vínculo entre la Iglesia y la Eucaristía. El Papa Benedicto enseñó que la Iglesia es la celebración de la Eucaristía; la Eucaristía es la Iglesia; no están simplemente uno al lado del otro; son uno y lo mismo; desde allí irradia todo lo demás.

La Eucaristía se entiende también como una de varias actividades y podría ponerse al servicio del bien mayor de lo que la Iglesia es y desea hacer, como promover la inclusión, la diversidad, el multiculturalismo, el crecimiento de la iglesia, la justicia social, etc. Como dice Ralph McMichael: “En lugar de ver la Eucaristía como algo que hace la Iglesia, podríamos acercarnos a la Iglesia desde la Eucaristía. La Eucaristía es el acontecimiento de la Iglesia; la Iglesia es el acontecimiento de la Eucaristía”. Alabado sea Jesús Sacramentado; adorado y amado. Que la Iglesia se mueva a servir al Reino en el Nombre de Jesús.

Renovación de la Capilla: Mi más sincero agradecimiento a Michael Michnej y la generosidad de su familia porque este proyecto se completó a tiempo. También agradecemos a nuestros donantes por este proyecto. Hemos completado este importante proyecto por completo, a través de donaciones y voluntarios. Gracias por su apoyo y oraciones.

Graduación de octavo grado: Nuestros alumnos de octavo grado pasaron su último día en la escuela SSPJ el 31 de mayo y su graduación será en una misa especial el 3 de junio a las 7 pm. Los invito a todos a desearles a nuestros niños que se gradúen y que pasaran a la siguiente etapa de su vida. Nuestro colegio SSPJ tiene su misa mensual en la que pueden participar padres y abuelos. Nuestra próxima misa escolar será el 4 de junio a las 10 am. Las graduaciones de Pre-K y Kindergarten están programadas para el 5 de junio. Estudio Bíblico sobre Los Hechos de los Apóstoles: ¡Todos son bienvenidos! Como probablemente saben, se necesitan horas de preparación para preparar un estudio bíblico. Agradezco a todos aquellos que se han apuntado a estos estudios. Todos los jueves a la 1:30 pm en Mercy Hall nos reunimos para estudiar las Escrituras.
